Meet The Maker

Bridget McKay (she/her) is the sole creative behind Bee by Design.  Bridget has studied garment making and textile arts for most of her life, having attended many workshops and courses, she has always had a great passion for colour and design. Bee by Design came into being in the Fall of 2016.  What started off as a small collection of pouches and fabric journals made for a Christmas Market at a local art gallery, has since grown into a distinctive collection of cork bags and accessories.  

Bridget designs all her own products.  She combines various corks and canvas fabrics, creating a unique style of product.  Her goal is to create something that has great functionality and durability but is still really fun and stylish.  

All Bee by Design products are made in small batches by Bridget in her home studio in Campbellville, Ontario.  She consciously selects natural fiber textiles and materials for her products (wherever possible), with a commitment to making her products as natural and sustainable as possible.  Her favourite part of the process is mixing and matching the various prints and colours to create each design.  

Bridget is passionate about her work, and being part of the maker and small business community.  She loves nothing more than connecting with her customers, supporting other small businesses, and being a part of the local, handmade by humans culture.
